Time for an early update. Today I've uploaded two new artworks to the galleries.
September 2, 2003
Well this update has certainly been a bit late, but as promised the links section is now up. The seperate pages of the links section have all been divided into smaller categories. This was done to make it far easier to find what you may be looking for, than it used to (links used to be listed in long unorganized lists). That way, if you're looking for a photoshop tutorial site, you'd just look under digital art section of the tutorial links page. At the moment, the amount of categories are pretty slim. I'll be adding more categories as well as sites, as time goes on.
I've been pretty busy as of late (hence the lateness of the update), but I'll try to upload some more art this week.

Well the links section is taking a bit longer to fix than I thought it would. It'll probably be about a week before I can upload it. It'll definitely be smaller than it used to be. However, it'll get pretty large eventually. Expect it to be up with the next update.
In the meantime, check out the two new entries to the art galleries. You'll find them in the following galleries...
I've still got quite a bit of art that needs to be added. So be sure to visit again soon, as I'll be updating fairly regularly.

Laguna's Sketch Pad is now officially re-opened. All, except for the links section, is now open for business. The links section will probably be down for another week or so.
For those visiting for the first time, Laguna's Sketch Pad is a site featuring some of my artwork. You'll find that I try to tackle many different subjects, so finding something that will tickle your fancy shouldn't be too difficult... I hope. This is a family-friendly site. Subject matter will not delve into the obscene (keep in mind that I don't view nudity as obscene, so long as it's not tasteless). The galleries will showcase a number of works done in a variety of mediums, seperated in categories like anime, cartoons, comic book, videogame, wildlife, paleo, portrait, three dimensional computer renders, and sketches.
Alongside the galleries, are a listing of art sites (coming soon). Like the galleries, the links section will be divided into categories to make it easy to find what you'll be looking for. The four categories will be: personal art, art supplies, art tutorials, and sites dedicated to famous artists. The focus is to provide an easy to navigate road through the world of art.
For those of you who've visited before, welcome back! As you know, Laguna's Sketch Pad was looooooong overdue for not only an update, but a new look as well. Well here it is, albeit about 11 months from the last update . Anyhow, I'm hoping everyone agrees that the "new look" is looking a good deal more professional than the old "homely" version. The layout is pretty much the same. Afterall, you don't fix what ain't broke and the old version was very easy to navigate. New buttons have replaced the the text links of old and if you're using a compatible browser (read IE5+), you should be seeing some snazzy effects courtesy of the fine blokes at Dynamic Drive. I've also replaced some of those horrid graphics that once plagued the site. I was never happy with those graphics and feel the site is far more easier on the eyes.
Aside from the cosmetic upgrade, you'll notice that I've rearranged some of the art galleries. The old Anime & Videogame Fan Art Gallery, has been split into two seperate galleries featuring their respective subjects. The Paleo-art Gallery is a new addition, as is the Poser Art Gallery. Old works that suit those galleries have been moved to their appropriate places. Along with the new galleries, I've uploaded some new art. Yes, new art! Originally I was gonna add 10 new pieces (1 for each of the 10 galleries), but that would of have been too good of me... and we just can't have that, now can we? Instead, I've uploaded only five new works. You'll find one in each of the following galleries:
You may have noticed already, but two of the new additions have seen some work in Adobe's Photo Shop 6. It allows me to do some effects that I haven't been able to do using Corel's Photo Paint 6. I'm just now getting some basics down and will probably be using it more often in future illustrations. However, both Photo Paint 6 and Painter 5 will likely remain the programs that I use most.
That's about it for this update. As soon as I'm done re-working the links section, I'll have a new update up. The new links section is going to be a helluva lot better than it was. I'm also thinking about making the site a bit more interactive for the lil' kids that visit. I'm tinkering around with some code right now. So depending on how things work out, maybe we'll see this really cool idea come into fruition. So what is this new idea? Sorry, but I'm keeping it under wraps for now. In the meantime, enjoy the galleries and sign my guestbook.
